Volunteers Help Make Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships a Fantastic Success

“On behalf of Scottish Swimming I would like to thank them all sincerely for their contribution" Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive, Scottish Swimming

Volunteers once again ensured that the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh maintained its status as the UK’s premier short course event.

Having attracted some of the UK and Europe’s top swimmers Scottish Swimming’s army of dedicated volunteers made sure that the event experience for athletes, coaches, clubs and spectators was second to none.

Speaking after the event, Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive of Scottish Swimming said,

“The last three days of competition has been superb, but putting on such a meet takes months and months of planning and we just couldn’t do that without the tireless support and time of the volunteers we have.

“From front of house, the technical officials, referees and judges to the events team, stewards and of course volunteers within the clubs, all of whom give up their time to create an event worthy of attracting world class athletes.

“On behalf of Scottish Swimming I would like to thank them all sincerely for their contribution, not just at these short course championships, but for all the work they do throughout the year.”

The event itself saw many records fall including a number of world record breaking performances from some of the para-swimmers, including,
