Portobello Net Win over London Polytechnic in British Water Polo Championships

Portobello secured a good win over London Polytechnic on Saturday night at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh with an 11 goals to 7 victory.

A good crowd saw Portobello take early control winning the first period by 2-0, with the second period seeing goals traded making the half time score 4-2.  Portobello asserted their superiority in the third period winning it by 4-0 with Chris Campbell netting 3 goals. The match was closed out in the 4th period with teams trading goals for Portobello to win 11-7 and Campbell scoring 5 goals in total.

With two wins out of the first three games Portobello are tied at the top of group A in the British Championships with Manchester and Bristol after the first round of matches.  Portobello next travel to London for the return leg in two weeks’ time, before visiting Bristol and then hosting Manchester at the Commonwealth Pool on 11th April.

At the conclusion of the second round of matches the top two teams will qualify for the finals in Lancaster on 2-3 May.
