Curtain Comes Down on #SNAGS2015

"Several new swimmers emerged with potential and many existing swimmers consolidated their places in our plans." Alan Lynn, National Coach

The Aquatics Centre at Aberdeen Sports Village proved to be a fantastic, fast venue to host the Scottish National Age Groups Championships from. Over 900 athletes were in action, from the older, more experienced athlete such as Commonwealth Games gold medallists Hannah Miley and Ross Murdoch using this event as final preparation for the British Championships, to our youngest athlete, 10 year old Calum Rose of Warrender who along with a number of others, made his National Championships debut at the event.

A number of National Age Groups and National Junior records were broken over the six day meet, Warrender were crowned Top Club and the event was well supported with sell-out crowds and a fantastic army of volunteers and officials, without whom the event would not have been possible.

At the conclusion of the meet, National Coach Alan Lynn commented,

“The National Age Groups Championships proved to be a fantastic event for our young swimmers. The quality of racing and skills was excellent throughout the Meet and stood up to the challenge of multiple competition days. Several new swimmers emerged with potential and many existing swimmers consolidated their places in our plans.

“As part of the vital build up to the British Championships next week, SNAGS served as a final tune-up for a few leading swimmers and I was very pleased with their form and fitness ahead of that contest. This is a very important season with the Olympics fast approaching and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast less than 3 years away.”
