Noreen Brown

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Noreen Brown on 2nd June 2015, aged 71, a the Marie Curie Hospice.

Noreen was the wife of Douglas Brown, former SASA Swimming Convener and mother of Andrew, Angus, Susan and Amelia.

Her whole family were members of Inverleith ASC from the early 1970's and her Children also swam at and for East District for many years.

In her early professional life Noreen was a Primary School Teacher, specialising in English as a second language. She also completed a Masters Degree in computing in 1997, subsequently specialising in computer assisted learning for disadvantaged children and adults.

On a vuluntary basis Noreen assisted Inverleith Amateur Swimming Club as a teacher of swimming and as a coach, later serving the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association as Team Manager at Multi-nations and International meets. She also accompanied Douglas, who was Honorary Secretary of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland to the Games in Manchester, Melbourne and Delhis, and to the Commownealth Youth Games in Edinburgh and Bendigo.

Noreen's Funeral will be at William Purves Funeral Director in Whitehouse Loan at 10.30am on Monday 8th June followed by tea/coffee at the Bruntsfield Hotel at 11.15am.
