Deans Wins Silver in Cyprus Open Water International

Mark Deans (City of Glasgow Swim Team) was the runner up in the men’s 5 km race at the Cyprus International Open Water Meet on Sunday (4 October 2015).

The race, held on 1.25 km circuit off Larnaca beach, included 27 entrants from 8 countries.  In the women’s competition, Alyshia McCracken (Warrender Baths Club) finished in 9th place in a field of 21.  The pair also competed in the 10 km race held the previous day where they finished 8th and 9th respectively.

The event marks the end of the open water season for the two. McCracken will concentrate on competing in pool events until the 2016 starts in June.  However, Deans will move to Perth, Australia to train for three months and compete in the Australian open water season.
