Swimmer Development Pathway at British Championships

"This unique opportunity to not only see the swimming, but swim in the main pool and hear from our Olympians will be a fantastic boost to the confidence and motivation of the young swimmers." Alan Lynn National Coach

Close to 300 young swimmers from the District Regional Programme (DRP) and Youth Development Squad (YDS) will get a glimpse of senior swimming next weekend by attending the GB Championships / Olympic Trials in Glasgow. The visits are part of an overall swimmer development pathway established by Scottish Swimming to nurture and support young swimmers in the early stages of their careers.

Each day the swimmers will spectate at both heats and finals sessions, in addition to completing a training session in the main competition pool in the afternoon. Former Olympic swimmers will talk to them about their experiences in qualifying for and competing at Olympic Games, plus there will be inputs from National Coach, Alan Lynn and Performance Director, Ally Whike.

Speaking ahead of the Meet, Alan Lynn said,

"This unique opportunity to not only see the swimming, but swim in the main pool and hear from our Olympians will be a fantastic boost to the confidence and motivation of the young swimmers. We hope that these insights will prove to be valuable lessons as the swimmers improve and progress to competing at this event in their own right in the future."
