Miley Progresses to 200m IM Semi-Finals

When you are a talented athlete competing at the Olympic Games there is little time to reflect and recover from what must have been utter disappointment at not securing a medal in your main event. But that’s exactly what Hannah Miley has had to do with the Garioch athlete going in the heats of the 200m IM.

Miley, who celebrates her 27th birthday today, was in action in heat 3 of the shorter IM distance. It took her until her excellent breaststroke leg to get into the mix and she came back strong to post a time of 2:11.84, exactly the same time that saw her win the bronze medal in the event at the European Championships in London back in May.

Team-mate Siobhan-Marie O’Connor looked in superb form and qualified 2nd fastest for the semi-finals in 2:08.44, just outside her British Record.

There was disappointment for Georgia Coates and Ellie Faulkner in the 200m freestyle with neither progressing to the latter stages.

As well as the 200m IM semi-finals, GBR interest tonight also lies with James Guy who will be back in action in the final of the 200m freestyle.
