Top 15 finish for Hattersley in Rio

Following her Olympic debut in yesterday’s heats of the 4x200m freestyle, City of Glasgow Swim Team’s Camilla Hattersley took to the blocks for the 800m freestyle.

Up against experienced Mireia Belmonte (ESP), Hattersley looked strong, keeping within a few body lengths of the Spaniard. Towards the end of the race, however, Hattersley lost a bit of momentum and dropped back, finishing the heat in 3rd place in 8:33.65 and 15th overall for the event.

Olympic silver medallist Jazz Carlin finished in 8:19.43 and will be 3rd fastest into tomorrow’s final as she chases medal number 2 from Rio.

In other events James Guy produced an impressive swim in the heats of the 100m butterfly. The Millfield Swimming athlete finished in 51.78 and goes into tonight’s semi-finals in 8th place. This performance will bring confidence to the 4x100m medley team, the heats of which are tomorrow.

Ben Proud also produced a solid swim finishing in 21.83 and going into the semi-finals in =7th.

Tonight also sees Dan Wallace back in action in the final of the 200m IM. Wallace has worked extremely hard since the Trials in April and looks to be returning to form.

Molly Renshaw and Chloe Tutton are also in action for GBR in the final of the 200m breaststroke.
