Tuesday, March 28, 2017 Aberdeen Set to Play Host to Countries Top Age Group Swimmers Aberdeen Aquatics Centre - Aberdeen Sports Village Almost 1000 of the best age group swimmers will head to Aberdeen this week to compete at the Scottish National Age Group Swimming Championships, which take place at the Aquatics Centre, Aberdeen Sports Village from 29 March to 2 April. For many the event will provide an opportunity to win that first National Championships medal, make a final or score points for their Club in the Top Team competition. The meet also serves as a chance for athletes to gain ranking positions for the British Summer Nationals along with the Scottish Summer Meet held in July. It is also the first opportunity to post a consideration time for the Commonwealth Youth Games, which take place in the Bahamas in July. Scottish Swimming, in partnership with Glasgow-based QTV Sports, will once again be providing a free-to-air live stream from the Championships, broadcasting the evening sessions (finals) online from Wednesday 1st April. The stream can be found at www.scottishswimming.com/live. STV will be producing a highlights programme from Saturday’s finals for broadcast on Sunday 2 April at 7.30pm on STV Edinburgh, STV Glasgow and the STV Player. Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of Scottish Swimming said, “We are delighted to return to Aberdeen and to Aberdeen Sports Village. With over 86 Clubs represented from across the UK this meet is clearly seen to be the best age group competition in the UK and we must thank the volunteers and events team for creating this great reputation. “Clubs remain at the heart of our membership so as well as looking forward to some top racing over the five days, we will be holding two Club Clinics where our members can share with us their ideas, requests and challenges to help drive their clubs and our sport forward. “On behalf of Scottish Swimming I welcome everyone to the event and wish all athletes competing the very best.” The Scottish National Age Group Championships is also the first event where our new event partner, TYR, will be providing merchandise through a partnership with WrightSport. Please note that spectator tickets are limited and can be booked via APA Box Office on a first come, first served basis. Any remaining tickets will then be sold on the door at the venue.
