Swim Series Events gain record numbers in 2017

"For Masters it's less about improving technique but more about engaging the brain and body at the same time, thinking about body position in the water and better streamlining to maximise efficiency and swim faster." Robbie Renwick

Saturday 4th March was the final event in a series of 3 sell out Adult coached swim events for Swim Social and Masters swimmers. Since January we have held three regional events in Stirling, East Kilbride and Edinburgh for adults wishing to hone their swimming skills. Regular weekly classes are still available locally for those interested.

Thanks to our team of dedicated and enthusiastic coaches supported by Olympic Silver medallist, World and Commonwealth Champion Robbie Renwick, over 150 swimmers have gained some excellent coaching tips to improve their technique and swim more efficiently.

Our team of coaches at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on Saturday included Andy McGuire, Laurel Bailey, Karen Ferguson, Ross McCafferty and Danielle Huskisson.

Andy McGuire said

"We are working on steamlining and push and glide then some rotation work focusing on each side and making sure we have a powerful leg kick."

Robbie Renwick commented

"For Masters it's less about improving technique but more about engaging the brain and body at the same time, thinking about body position in the water and better streamlining to maximise efficiency and swim faster."

All of the events have had a great social and fun element to them and participants have gained real benefits:

"It was a nice, easy pace and I was able to concentrate on mastering the stroke."

Susan Donnelly

"Good to work on the small things and then combine these to see the improvement."

Denise Oldham

Well done to all involved!
