Aberdeen plays host to British Masters and Senior Age Group Championships

Scottish Swimming is delighted to host the British Masters and Senior Age Group Championships at the Aquatics Centre in Aberdeen from today. The three day championship has attracted over 530 athletes across 2500 entries and will bring together competitors ranging in age from 18-86 years, including Masters swimming ‘legend’, Jane Asher (86) of King Cormorants Swimming Club, who, as a swimming coach was encouraged to swim competitively at the age of 40 by her pupils, and has subsequently gone on to break over 75 Masters World Records. BBC’s Olympic and Paralympic broadcaster, Nick Hope (Wigan), will also step out from behind his camera to compete.

Until 2017, the British Masters and Senior Age Group Championships was organised and delivered by British Swimming but it was decided for the event to move to each Home Nation in turn to deliver and for 2017, this is to be in Scotland. .
