Reid and Torrance finish 5th in Budapest

Grace Reid and Katherine Torrance finished in fifth place after putting in a consistent performance in the 3m Synchro final.

Reid and Torrance started the competition well and scored a total of 94.80 for their required dives. They opened their optional dives with their Front 2 ½ Somersaults 1 Twist piked and scored 66.60.

Their best dive was the Reverse 2 ½ Somersaults piked with a score of 68.40 and finished with a total of 294.60.

“We're absolutely over the moon with that finish,” Reid said. “We had a bit of a tough morning, it wasn't an ideal start for us but we regrouped, went back to the hotel and then this evening we came back and gave it all we had, so great result.

"I think we're really like minded, we're very competitive people and I think that showed today, we're similar in our training ethic.

"As Katherine said we're up there with the best girls in the world and that's a real asset, a real confidence booster and we'll both be able to take that forward into the individual competitions."

"It's a bit wild competing in this kind of environment, you could probably tell this morning I was a bit nervous but it's nice to know we're in there with everybody, not miles away from the big scores, definitely builds your confidence,” Torrance said.

"Like you say, we haven't been together very long, only about six months now but it's a great pairing."
