Swim-IT kick start season in style

Despite the new swimming season still being in its infancy, swimmers from Swim-IT have already enjoyed some early success.

Back in August six young swimmers (Erin Mulholland, Amber Gourlay, Freya Gwynne, Eleanor Roccio, Hannah Mailer, Dominik Skrzypiec) competed in a total of 25 races at the Cumbernauld Graded Meet, achieving a total of 25 personal bests!

Not to be outdone by the youngsters, last weekend Ian MacDonald made his debut in the Great Scottish Swim at Loch Lomond, finishing in 32.57 and placing an impressive 3rd in the 60-64 age group.

More success followed at the Haddington Sprint Triathlon where Christine Milne took over two minutes off her time for the 750m swim (15:48) and subsequently finished the remaining 18.9km cycle and 5km run in a total time of 1:20:58.

Continuing the incredible success, a group of 11 swimmers competed at the Dunedin Challenge Meet. The squad, consisting of Grace Stephens, Mia McLeod, Aziliz Mackay, Fraser McKee, Owen Higgins, Natalie Marshall, Sophie Holleran, Abbie Morton, Eilidh Gourlay, Nicole MacFarlane and Rachel Donald achieved the following:

40 top 5 finishes,

47 personal bests,

11 GOLD

11 SILVER,

14 BRONZE,

There were 3 Top Girl finishes in the 10 and under age group, 11-12 age group and the 15 and over age group respectively

All swimmers secured multiple personal best times with a number of the young swimmers competing in either their first competition or in new events during competition.  Stand out swims were:
