Scotland's best swimmers to descend on Royal Commonwealth Pool

Scotland’s top swimmers are all set to compete at the Scottish National Short Course Championships, which kick off on Friday December 8. The event, recognised as the premier Short Course event in the UK, will take place at the historic Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh over three days.

Many of Team Scotland’s most recognisable and successful athletes who will head to the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be participating, as well as many talented up-and-comers. For Kathleen Dawson, Ross Murdoch and Duncan Scott, these Championships will serve as the last opportunity for them to hone their techniques ahead of the European Short Course Championships in Denmark which will take place from December 13 to December 17. In addition to the home-grown swimmers there will also be a wealth of competitors travelling to Edinburgh from across the UK, the Republic of Ireland and as far as Belgium.

Scottish Swimming, in partnership with QTV Sports, will once again be providing a free-to-air live stream from the Championships, broadcasting the evening sessions (finals) online via and the Scottish Swimming YouTube channel.

Forbes Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of Scottish Swimming said:

“The Scottish National Short Course Championships always attract the best talent and we are delighted to have such a strong field again. With almost 100 Clubs represented this meet is clearly seen to be one of the best competitions of its kind and we must thank the volunteers and events team for creating this great reputation.

“On behalf of Scottish Swimming I welcome everyone to the event and wish all athletes competing the very best.”
