Thursday, March 8, 2018 Broxburn ASC swim over 100,000 metres in Swim a Hill challenge "To all who hit the water, you provided the inspiration, you make the club what it is and every penny raised helps secure our future." Richard Bennett, head coach. Last month, Broxburn ASC held a fundraiser open to all swimmers and parents which encouraged them to swim a hill of a particular length. The aim of the challenge was to try and achieve over 100,000 metres swam collectively between all swimmers. The club smashed that target and kept going all the way to 146,750 metres, well done to everyone! 21 Learn to Swim swimmers took part along with 30 squad swimmers (including Swim West Lothian athletes) and a further six adults. Richard Bennett, head coach of Broxburn ASC, said: "My job is to provide inspiration to all who attend and support Broxburn ASC. Thursday’s 'Swim a Hill' turned this on its head. "What happened was incredible...........we swam 146,750 meters which equates to an amazing 91 miles! "Everyone upped their game, swam as a team, supported their club and each other. This incudes everyone poolside who counted laps, encouraged swimmers and all who made the running of the event the success it was. "And to all who hit the water, you provided the inspiration, you make the club what it is and every penny raised helps secure our future. "All at Broxburn ASC, you so inspire the coaching team and the committee and it was just so magnificent to witness. "Thank you and so proud of you all."
