Tuesday, April 10, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games - Day 6 Heats Review The 200m IM is Dan Wallace's only individual event of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games It’s the sixth and final day of the swimming competition of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and Team Scotland swimmers will be contesting five finals later tonight. In the 200m IM all three Scots progressed to the final, including five-time medalist at the Gold Coast Games, Duncan Scott. He’ll be joined by Dan Wallace and Mark Szaranek. For Wallace’s this was his only individual event of the Games and he was pleased to get the heat under his belt. He said, “That was good to get that race done. It’s my first individual swim of the meet so it was a bit different preparing for that mentally. Speaking about the wait he’s had for his individual race, Wallace continued, “My role in the team has been different here. I’m trying to become more of a leader, get out and support everyone, while at the same time making sure I’m ready to perform at the level we expect to perform at.” Camilla Hattersley returns for the 400m freestyle final while Kathleen Dawson, Cassie Wild and Lucy Hope will ensure a big Scottish presence in the 50m backstroke final. Hannah Miley and Abbie Houston also contested the heats of the 400m freestyle finishing in 10th and 14th respectively. The Meet will close with the 4x100m medley. While there were no heats for the women, the quartet of Stephen Milne, Craig Benson, Sean Campsie and Jack Thorpe ensured Scotland would compete in the final event of the swimming meet. Swimming finals start at 19:31 local time (10:31 GMT).
