Reid and Thomson in Final Night of Aquatics

Fresh from her gold medal winning exploits last night, Grace Reid was back in action in this morning’s prelims of the 3m springboard. She found her rhythm quickly and dived well across the five rounds finishing fifth for the final with 305.15 points.

Afterwards she commented,

“I got around four hours sleep last night, which isn’t a lot, so I’m really happy with that performance

“Last night’s medal definitely added to my confidence and has given me the mindset that I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain so this afternoon is about relaxing and enjoying it again. The 1m was yesterday so that’s been parked and today, like everyone else, I start from zero again, so tonight’s going to be another good battle.”

Lucas Thomson also secured a place in the final of the 10m Platform with a score of 321.65. The 16-year old started well with a solid Back 2½ Somersaults 1½ Twists, which scored him 67.20 points, however he dropped his third dive and had to finish strongly.

His last dive was good and he finished tenth overall after which he said,

“I’m disappointed with how I performed today but I’m through to the final, that’s what I was here to do; we all start afresh and we all start with zero again.

“I’m looking to be a lot sharper tonight, I’ve certainly left myself with big scope to improve so I just want to get out there again, show what I can really do and enjoy the experience.”

Diving finals start at 19:01 local time (10:01 GMT).
