Scottish Swimming appoint new Chair

“I am extremely excited to have been appointed as the next Chair of the Board of Scottish Swimming, the achievements our organisation and sport have enjoyed have been incredible and I firmly believe that we can build on them even further.  To play a role in that work will be an honour” Graeme Marchbank

Scottish Swimming are delighted to announce the appointment of Graeme Marchbank as the new Chair of the Scottish Swimming Board of Directors. Graeme has been a non-executive board member of Scottish Swimming for the last three years playing a pro-active role in influencing and shaping the strategic direction of the company, providing leadership support on the organisation’s marketing strategy and contributing as a member of the audit and risk committee.

Graeme currently leads global brand partnerships at Diageo Plc where he has held a number of senior positions since 2004, notably in their sport and event sponsorships for four years and as Director of Corporate Sponsorship for 8 years. With Diageo, Graeme led the delivery of the Johnnie Walker Championship golf event at Gleneagles Hotel for thirteen years as part of The PGA European Tour.

Graeme’s sporting experience includes his role as Director of Golf at The Gleneagles Hotel for 5 years and he was an active non-executive board member of sportscotland from 2007 to 2015 which included tenure on the audit committee, the ethics committee and the Trust Company Board.

On a more personal level Graeme has direct experience of the swimming community and environment through his children’s swimming achievements, as a former club committee member and as a qualified Technical Official. He has a real passion for swimming which he believes has significant breadth and depth as a sport when measured across criteria such as international success, intergenerational connection, life skills, health, personal safety, public profile and media coverage.

Alison Low, President of Scottish Swimming commented,

“We are delighted to appoint Graeme as Chair of the Board. He has a real enthusiasm and passion for our sport and brings a wealth of experience from his professional career and roles as a non-executive board member.”
