Alan Lynn, National Coach A group of 30 athletes from Scotland’s Youth Development Squad will be joining 39 of their Welsh counterparts in Swansea for a joint Camp/Competition Experience this weekend. With the theme ‘Executing Race Skills’ the 70 athletes have been asked to focus on: Quality execution of race skills in both the training and competition environment; Adapting to new coaches and team mates in both the training and competition environment; Displaying the correct (performance) behaviours conducive to high level outcomes both in and away from the sporting arena Speaking ahead of the Camp, National Coach, Alan Lynn said: “I am delighted to be working with colleagues at Swim Wales on this joint initiative. As athletes progress in their swimming career they will come across different coaches and team mates so it is important for them to learn the skills to adapt to this change and perform at their best. We will be focusing on learning and refining racing skills under pressure in a challenging and positive environment. Competition will be fierce and fun amongst and between the swimmers.” The Camp runs from 15th-17th June and will include a workshop led by Swim Wales National Performance Director, Ross Nicholas, highlighting the importance of skills to race performance at elite level in a Q&A session with Commonwealth Games medallists and British internationals, Alys Thomas and Dan Jervis.
