Susan Liddle's Dublin Diary: Behind the medals

During the 2016 Rio Paralympics, Susan Liddle, who volunteers with Scottish Swimming, provided a brilliant daily blog for us, detailing her experiences as a Technical Official at the Games. And we're delighted to announce that for the World Para Swimming European Championships in Dublin, Susan will be doing the same again with her Dublin Diary!

Day 3

What a day of swims! An amazing medal haul for us tonight to add to the others already under our belt.

I know I made comment on Scott's swim last night but Connor swam his heart out also to take the silver.  When I spoke to Scott today he was all about Connor's swim and how he had almost caught him.

The triple tonight was fab as was the double - you should all be so proud - I know we are.

There are five Scottish Officials over here, yesterday saw Elizabeth Fitzsimmons take on the role of starter for the heats and finals and tomorrow Scott Milne will be Refereeing for the day.

Each of these roles has different pressures especially when you add a wee thing call broadcasting into the mix.

Yesterday and today saw me actually on deck - officiating as a Timekeeper/ Inspector of Turns (yes two roles rolled into 1one - what else would you expect of me really???!!!)  It has been really enjoyable to be 'out my box' but I can't see me giving that up quite yet.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring?
