Monday, October 8, 2018 #LoveSwimming for its mental health benefits Today is the launch of the next chapter in the #LoveSwimming campaign, led by Swim England, with the them of 'Escape'. 'Escape' reflects the extremes of a fast-paced modern life and the impact it can have on your mental health, in stark comparison to the unique environment offered by swimming. A new YouGov poll released today highlights swimming as a key activity to help mental wellbeing, with over one million people with mental health conditions benefitting from the sport. In addition, almost half a million (492,000) British adults with mental health problems who ever swim say that they have reduced the number of visits to a medical professional regarding their mental health condition as a result of swimming. And swimming has meant over 490,000 people have reduced or no longer take medication for their mental health condition. We are encouraging people across the country to get involved at your local pool and #LoveSwimming with us. Find your nearest pool using the Pool Finder at the bottom of our homepage.
