Wednesday, October 24, 2018 Toni Shaw in final three for Scottish Young Sportswoman of the Year Toni Shaw competing at #SNOC18 Toni Shaw is one of three athletes on the shortlist for the Scottish Women in Sport Young Sportswoman of the Year Award, sponsored by sportscotland. The 15-year-old Para swimmer, from Aberdeen, burst into the national spotlight earlier this year as the youngest member on Team Scotland at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, making the final of every event she entered and setting new personal bests. This summer she took her success to a new level as she became a double European Champion at the World Para Swimming European Championships in Dublin. Shaw won the S9 400m Freestyle and was part of the victorious 34pt 4x100m Medley Relay team which stormed to victory on the Emerald Isle. Shaw also doubled up on Silver and Bronze medals at the championships in the S9 100m Butterfly, SM9 200m Individual Medley, S9 100m Freestyle and S9 100m Backstroke. Shaw is coached by Gregor McMillan at the University of Aberdeen. She is nominated alongside gymnast Crystelle Lake and squash player Georgia Adderley. The awards event, run in conjuction with the University of the West of Scotland, will take place on Friday 9th November at the GoGlasgow Hotel Glasgow.
