Grace Reid and Tom Daley among line-up of champions at #ScottishDiving18

Olympic, World and European champions will be descending on Edinburgh for the 2018 Scottish National & Open Diving Championships, which kicks off on Thursday November 29 at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.

Scottish heroine Grace Reid is one of the headline acts following her history-making success at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and then at the European Championships at this very pool. On both occasions Reid won a Gold medal, first in the 1m springboard in Australia and then the 3m springboard on home turf.

World Champion and Olympic Bronze medallist Tom Daley, who is also Reid's former dive partner, is another high-profile name scheduled to compete in Edinburgh. The 24-year-old has been on an extended lay-off from the sport after the birth of his son in June.

Another athlete with links to Reid is Katherine Torrance, who partners the Scot in synchro events. The duo narrowly missed out on Gold in the 3m synchro at Glasgow 2018. Before that, Torrance partnered Alicia Blagg to Silver in the 3m synchro at the Commonwealth Games. She also won three golds at the British Championships earlier this year.

Other high-profile Brits slotted to participate include Robyn Birch, Jack Haslam, Matthew Dixon and Matty Lee.

In terms of international competitors, former World Junior Champion Andreas Larsen travels to Edinburgh and will compete in the Men's Platform event alongside Daley, Dixon, Lee and Scotland's James Heatly and Lucas Thomson.

The pair are two of Scotland's brightest diving talents and are set to take to the boards once again after enjoying a very successful meet last year. The Edinburgh Diving Club teammates will be looking to cap off a year that saw them become Commonwealth Games finalists and in the case of Heatly a Commonwealth and European Bronze medallist, and for Thomson a World Junior Champion with the British team, and an inidividual Silver and Bronze medallist at European Junior level.

Staying with Scottish talent, Edinburgh Diving Club and a Team Scotland member Gemma McArthur is another well-known face and she too will compete across a range of events this coming weekend.

Such a strong field of talent demonstrates the quality of event on offer in Edinburgh and we will be keeping you up-to-date across the four days of competition on Twitter and Facebook. And you too can engage with us by using #ScottishDiving18.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the programme if you are attending the event which includes a review of the 2018 Scottish diving season and more information on the sport in general.
