Tollcross prepares for Scotland’s fastest young swimmers

Swimmers from across Scotland and the rest of the UK will descend on Glasgow this week for the 2019 Scottish National Age Group Championships, from Wednesday 27 March to Sunday 31 March.

Tollcross International Swimming Centre will play host to over 1,100 swimmers, representing 100 Clubs, in the same venue as last year’s European Swimming Championships took place and where the upcoming LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships will be held in December.

For many, the event marks the first opportunity to win that first National Championships medal, make a final or score points for their club in the Top Team competition. Last year’s Top Team was Warrender Baths Club. Athletes can also gain ranking positions for the British Summer Nationals along with the Scottish Summer Meet held in July, if they perform well enough.

Scottish Swimming, in partnership with Stream-Scene, will provide a free-to-air live stream from the Championships, broadcasting the evening sessions (finals) online from Wednesday. The stream link will be live on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and also via our website here:                 www.scottishswimming.com/live.

During #SNAGS2019, Scottish Swimming’s partners TYR and Wright Sport will be on site offering merchandise, while the organisers of the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships will be in attendance providing information about the upcoming event in December. Scottish Swimming’s Learn to Swim Partner, Scottish Water will have the Challenge Duncan machine on site where you will have the chance to swim against the Olympian, World, European & Commonwealth Champion, and #LearntoSwim ambassador.

On Sunday, Scottish Swimming Performance Director, Ally Whike, along with representatives from the four Scottish Performance Hubs will conduct a presentation and Q&A for parents on athlete transition from school to tertiary education in swimming.

Tickets for the event will be on sale at the door only; there are no advanced ticket sales. Session times across all days are as follows:
