Edinburgh enjoy Thistle Trophy success

It was delight for Edinburgh Diving club as they picked up the Thistle Trophy this afternoon. Their novice divers accumulated an impressive 127 points across the weekend to claim the overall trophy.

Coaches for the novices Rosie Slade spoke of her delight after yet another success for the club.

“We are thrilled to have won the Thistle Trophy for the 14th consecutive year! It’s great to see so many Scottish divers on the medal podium and we are so pleased with the Edinburgh divers’ performances. Scottish Diving is going from strength to strength both in the numbers participating and the standard.”

Edinburgh enjoyed success in both events with ten golds, four silver and three bronzes in total this weekend.

Session six saw some of our guests add to their medal haul with strong performances in the Group D 3m dive. Oscar Kane, Dacorum, and Etta Dodsworth, Sheffield, were yet again on the podium to receive gold. Harrogate and the Diving Academy of Northern Ireland also picked up a gold on the final day, with Evie Jalland and Logan Black both in top spot for the Thistle Trophy Novices Group B+.

The final session of the weekend was for Group C divers (12-13 year age group), which saw Malachy Walsh of Southampton claim gold in the platform dive from 5m. In the girls event, it was Gemma Dickson of Edinburgh who was victorious, diving from 3m.
