Warrender claim Team Championships 2019 title

As temperatures in Glasgow reached the mid twenties, the atmosphere inside Tollcross International Swimming Centre was just as red hot.

Like every year, our age group swimmers brought a fantastic wall of noise to the pool; drumming, singing and supporting their team mates across a full day of swimming.

It was Warrender Baths Club who ended up cheering the loudest as they secured the Scottish National Team Championships for 2019. The Edinburgh based club were neck and neck with City of Glasgow Swim Team for most of the day, as they looked to reclaim the title from the hosts.

With strong performances from University of Aberdeen Performance, F.I.R.S.T and Hearts, places were up for grabs right until the last few events. Warrender secured an emphatic win in the 4x50m medley relays to ensure a firm victory. Their 367 points was enough to lift the trophy come four o'clock.

In the invitational competition, it was Matt Trodden's team who came out victorious. Team Trodden was made up of senior athletes such as Scott McLay, Stephen Milne and Cassie Wild. With various events across the morning session, Team Trodden claimed 156 points, which was enough to beat Team Wright and Team Miley by more than ten points.

Congratulations to all of our winners across the day and a big thanks to all those who contributed to a brilliant atmosphere. Last but not least, a big thank you to all of our volunteers who made it all possible.
