Thursday, February 20, 2020 Young Scots head to Dave McCullagh meet The meet will take place at the Bangor Aurora complex. A large, joint contingent of Scottish and Welsh junior swimmers are taking on the might of Olympic champions and medalists this weekend in Bangor, NI. The Dave McCullagh Memorial Meet is an exciting challenge for the youngsters who have been selected from development camps between September and December 2019. Part of a joint training and competition initiative among the two Celtic nations, the culmination of the programme takes place against the backdrop of elite senior swimmers tuning-up for the Olympic Trials in London from 14-19 April. Adam Peaty, Siobhan Marie-O'Conor, Duncan Scott and Stephen Milne all await the eager youngsters looking to race and learn from the very best. The swimmers will combine in coaching groups led by experienced coaches from both countries and will have performance support staff in Nutrition, Physical Preparation and Race Analysis to help them learn from the unique 'reverse' format of evening heats and morning finals. Also embedded with the group will be double-Olympic silver medalist, Jaz Carlin, sharing her knowledge and expertise. National Coach, Alan Lynn said " We are excited to see how these promising young swimmers cope with such challenging competitive conditions. Racing this quality of opposition, in unfamiliar surroundings and with the reverse format is a great way to test themselves.
