Thursday, April 16, 2020 Scottish Swimming Supports Aquatics Community with SS Connect Programme Scottish Swimming today launches SS Connect, a series of digital courses and content which can aid learning, communication and enjoyment in the coming weeks and months to support our members’ needs as we feel it is essential to enable our aquatics community to feel connected at the present time. Courses are open to Scottish Swimming members and will be delivered via a secure platform with only pre-registered guests being given access to the course and a course moderator in place. We recognise that our sport relies on a dedicated army of people to deliver it from coaches to teachers and from tutors to volunteers. For this reason, we have put together a programme of online courses and interactive video conferencing sessions to upskill our members during the lockdown period and beyond. Please find advice on using our interactive platforms here. We recognise that our sport relies on a dedicated army of people to deliver it from coaches to teachers and from tutors to volunteers. For this reason, we have put together a programme of online courses and interactive video conferencing sessions to upskill our members during the lockdown period and beyond. For coaches, our programme will be delivered using technology such as Adobe Connect and Zoom and cover general topics such as Coach-Athlete relationships and Making sense of Pedagogy to very specific sessions such as a 400 Individual Medley Clinic or Fly for Youth Swimmers. The full list of sessions can be found below: SS Connect Programme Clubs will be able to sign up for courses around Club Governance, Creating a Volunteer Culture, Wellbeing Support for Club Chairs and Introducing Disciplines to Your Swimmers. These online sessions will replace face-to-face courses run by our team of Regional Swimming Development Managers and are an ideal opportunity to upskill committee members within your club. For our wider aquatics membership we plan to release a series of fun and engaging content to entertain and enable people to feel connected. This programme includes a regular family quiz to maintain that competitive spirit; a series of challenges which you can participate in from home; “an audience with” web casts with athletes and experts; and fun content for our younger members and children of Learn to Swim age. Keep a look out for this content over the coming weeks. In addition to these widely promoted sessions and content we have some courses for specific groups which will be delivered through existing workgroups on HIVE Learning and our team will be in touch with more information on these as they come on stream. We thank the many coaches, tutors, volunteers and staff who are supporting the delivery of this content over this challenging period and we hope you will find it both useful and engaging. For more information and details of where to find the courses as well as where to book please go to Find out more about SS Connect, here.
