Wednesday, May 6, 2020 #FishOutOfWater challenge for Mental Health Week #FishOutOfWater Mental Health Week starts on 11th May and Scottish Swimming have created a fun challenge to for of all our members to get involved in. Run with us this Mental Health Week as we aim to accumulate 5000km from Monday 11th May to Sunday 17th May. During this lockdown period, many of our members and partners have struggled because there is no access to swimming pools. It is not an easy time for anyone and it's important to keep our mental and physical wellbeing in the best shape possible and we continue to try and support our members through this uncertain period. Many have discovered a new found love for their running trainers throughout lockdown, and we think it's a great way of improving physical and mental wellbeing. Running can control stress and boost the body's ability to deal with existing mental tension. It also provides an opportunity to clear your mind and gain focus. So why not make yourself a #FishOutOfWater next week by grabbing your running trainers and recording your session on Strava. By joining the #FishOutOfWater Strava group, we can work together to improve physical and mental wellbeing and smash our 5000km target. All you need is a Strava account and to join our public group here. Strava will automatically collate all of your activities within the week and add them to our overall total - whether that's running, walking, climbing or cycling. For context, a 5km run is approxamitely equal to a 20km cycle in terms of energy levels. So, whatever way you choose to work up a sweat, make sure it's recorded! We encourage clubs to set up their own private clubs too, and that way you can track how much of the total your clubs contributed to! Please ensure you have read Strava's privacy guidelines before getting started. They are available to view here. We recommend that all members under the age of 15 should be accompanied by an adult, and that the adult should be the user recording their session via Strava. Only activities from Monday 11th to Sunday 17th May will count towards our 5000km target but you can join our club from today. Get involved! Join, run, have fun!
