Statement following UK Government’s announcement on further easing of lockdown restrictions

The easing of restrictions in England is clearly happening at a very different rate to those elsewhere around the home countries. Progress through the plans that have been developed by any of the home nation governments is based on the latest health advice, is subject to change and is not set in stone.  We acknowledge the frustration felt by colleagues in England following today’s easing of many lockdown restrictions, but which sadly does not include swimming pools.

In Scotland we are operating within the Public Health Scotland and phased route map out of lockdown set out by the Scottish Government which is currently in Phase two, and the guidance for future phases has yet to be confirmed.

Guidance documents about a return to aquatics in Scotland are being developed in a careful and considered way, working with key partners including Pool Providers. A return to aquatics must be safe and manageable and one which won’t put added or new pressure on our key workers.
