Competition Management Guidance Tables

The Scottish Swimming “Return to Competition Overview” was published in September with four progressive stages aimed at guiding the sport back to a form of competition normality.  “Racing Considerations” to support competitions in the first two of those stages was published in November and used to support clubs to run internal time trials, meets, virtual competition and take part in “Tighinn Comhla”.

When the country begins to move out of Protection Level 4, the main focus of clubs will quite rightly be on getting back in to the pool.  Scottish Swimming has however prepared some information to help the swimming community to better understand what to expect for competition as we move through each of the protection levels. This information can be found in “Competition Management Guidance Tables” and we hope that you will find it useful.  More detailed Competition Management Guidance has also been developed and will be published at a later date.

Sadly, the public health situation combined with the Scottish Government’s clear message that schools will not be returning until at least mid-February, has affected Scottish Swimming’s ability to proceed with plans for the Scottish National Age Group Championships due to be held at the end of March and beginning of April and as such the meet has been removed from the calendar.  The focus of Scottish Swimming National Swimming Committee and of the National Events Team will now be preparing for the planned summer dates as follows –

  • 24 June to 27 June
  • 16 July to 18 July

These dates were “earmarked” for the Scottish Open Swimming Championships and Scottish Summer Meet respectively.  However, with the pandemic continuing to affect activity, and the course of the return to competition being uncertain, the formats of these meets is currently being reviewed and may be changed.  Further information as to how the dates will be used will follow when available.
