Sunday, July 25, 2021 Dawson, Wild and Scott safely through to Olympic semi-finals Kathleen Dawson: through to 100m backstroke semi-final Cassie Wild: through to 100m backstroke semi-final Duncan Scott: through to 200m freestyle semi-final Three Scottish swimmers were in action today for TeamGB on the second day of the swimming competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Kathleen Dawson and Cassie Wild both raced in the last of the six heats of the 100m backstroke with both progressing to tomorrow’s semi-final. Current world record holder for the event, Kaylee McKeown (AUS), is fastest into the next round, having posted an Olympic Record time of 57.88 in the heats. Duncan Scott also started his Olympic campaign with the heats of the 200m freestyle. The British Record holder for the event finished in a time of 1:45.37 and qualifies for the semi-final, alongside TeamGB team-mate, Tom Dean who finished in 1:45.24. 18-year old Sun-Woo Hwang (KOR), who holds the World Junior Record for the even, was fastest through to the next round with a time of 1:44.62.
