Sunday, July 25, 2021 Reid and Torrance finish sixth in synchronised 3m springboard final A sixth place finish for Grace Reid and Kat Torrance in the synchronised 3m springboard final The diving competition of the XXXII Olympiad got underway today with Grace Reid and Kat Torrance opening the programme for GBR in the final of the synchronised 3m springboard. The pair made a solid start, with their best scoring dive coming in the third round, a forward 2½ Somersaults 1 Twist, Pike for which they scored 61.20 points. Unfortunately, a bit of over-rotation on entry to their penultimate dive, a Back 2½ Somersaults, Pike, cost them and despite a strong final dive, they finished in sixth place overall on 269.10 points. Defending Olympic Champion in the event, Tingmao Shi (CHN), paired up with team-mate Han Wang to defend the title with a dominant performance, which scored a total of 326.40 points. Four-time Olympian, Jennifer Abel, and partner Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu (CAN), who have partnered in this event since the world championships in 2017, won silver with 300.78 points while Lena Hentschel and Tina Punzel (GER) won bronze with 384.87 points.
