U19 Water Polo boys gain invaluable experience at EU competition

Scotland Water Polo U19 Boys have returned from their EU Nations U17 tournament in Brno, Czech Republic in what was an invaluable experience for the group.

Despite having no wins under their belts this time, the boys matched up well with some very strong teams, with the first two matches being against eventual finalists Czech Republic and South Africa.

The team had more evenly matched games against Austria, where a spirited first half display from the Scots was outweighed by a dominant second half Austrian performance.

This was followed by a close derby match against England – with Scotland’s opponents coming out on top and securing seventh place in the process.

Despite the lack of wins the group returns home with a strong sense of pride, having learned a lot, and represented Scotland admirably.

The group were coached by Ali Campbell, and assistant Calum Brown in what was the final taste of Junior Water Polo for the 04 boys.

Team awards went to Caelan Milne (players' MVP and team captain), James Miller (top goal scorer), Luke Hunter (coach's MVP) and Finn Lanyon (assistant coach's MVP).
