Wednesday, May 18, 2022 Are you Scotland's Club of the Year? Carnegie Club of the Year 2021 You can be the new club of the year! This year’s award aims not only to identify a club of the year but to be a celebration of the terrific work that clubs have undertaken throughout the past year to engage athletes and volunteers in the sport. The award is open to ALL Scottish Swimming affiliated clubs to enter, and we are looking for as many clubs as possible to get involved. ENTRY PROCESS We are looking for each club to submit a 2 minute video outlining their club’s success in over the past 12 months: Examples may include but are not limited to: Why do you think you are Scotland’s Club of the Year? The culture and atmosphere the club has created and sustained How the club has recruited, retained, engaged, and supported members How the club is supporting the local community How the club develops aquatics in the community Athlete, coach and volunteer development Top highlights To see last a highlight reel of all our entries from last time click here: https://bit.ly/3yKcKmB To see the top 3 shortlisted clubs’ full entry videos, click here: https://bit.ly/3FNNL32 ALL entries that meet the requirements of the entry process will be submitted into a draw from which one club will be selected at random to receive a club visit from one of Scottish Swimming’s outstanding Olympic or Paralympic athletes. The draw will be completed after the announcement of the Club of the Year. AWARDS Awards will be decided upon by a “selection panel” (outlined below) with the following being awarded The top 3 clubs will be invited to the Scottish Swimming Awards on the 24th September 2022 in Edinburgh, receiving 3 tickets with each club having the option to purchase the remainder of the table (10 per table): The winning club will be presented with a trophy at the awards night, £300 of Scottish Swimming Education vouchers and a club visit from an Olympic or Paralympic athlete. The 2nd and 3rd place clubs will be presented with an Award Certificate and £200 of Scottish Swimming Education vouchers. Please note; Nominated clubs will only be passed on to the selection panel if the club has adhered to all Scottish Swimming club governance and best practice guidelines over the past year. NOMINATION PROCESS & GUIDELINES Nomination videos for Club of the Year are welcomed from any current Scottish Swimming affiliated club with the exception of last year’s winning club. There should only be 1 video submitted per club. The video should represent the club between Aug 2021 until the closing date of 28th July 2022 at midday. Nominations can be made by any member of a qualifying club. Nomination videos should be approved and agreed by the executive committee to ensure it is a true reflection of the club. To enter, clubs should complete this form and then send their video to firstname.lastname@example.org using We Transfer. Both of these steps must be completed. (Details on how to use We Transfer are on the google form.) Nominated clubs will only be passed on to the selection panel if the club has followed all Wellbeing and Protection rules over the past year. The selection panel will include a minimum of four judges from the following list: Scottish Swimming representative SASA President SASA Vice President SASA Past President sportscotland representative Previous Club of the Year winner The top 3 clubs will be shortlisted and will be notified on the 11th Aug 2022 • The three shortlisted clubs will be invited to a virtual club meeting to discuss their success over the year. Shortlisted club virtual meetings will take place between the 15th -18th Aug 2022 Virtual club meetings will comprise of the selection panel members and representatives from the club. Ideally including, but not exclusive to, members of the coaching staff, committee members, athletes (various levels), parents (non-committee members) and anyone else the club would like to bring up to a maximum of 10. All nominated clubs will be informed of the outcome of the selection process. The selection panel’s decision is final. Completed applications should be received by Scottish Swimming no later than midday on the submission date. The online form will not be accessed beyond this point and no more videos can be accepted via email. Your video entry must be submitted by midday on the 28th July 2022 VIDEO TOP TIPS All videos must be no more than 2 minutes long or they will not be accepted All videos must be shot in landscape not portrait Each video should open with the name of the club Videos should include some interviews The video should be filmed on a camera or high-quality camera phone (e.g., iPhone) All entries must strictly adhere to all Wellbeing and Protection policies (see Scottish Swimming Website for details) All appropriate consents must be ascertained to allow the videos to be shown on all Scottish Swimming Social media platforms, events and press that results in the application. If clubs are using existing consent forms, please check that forms cover the content to be used for Scottish Swimming purposes as well as club use. All videos should be in MP4 (or equivalent) format For the best chance at winning please consider volume and picture quality to best get your clubs nomination across. Any music added should not be too loud – we want to hear you! HOW TO ENTER To submit your entry there are two steps to follow: 1.
