Countdown to Short Course Championships

The Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh will play host to the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships from 13 to 15 December 2013.

There’s an impressive line-up; amongst those registered to compete are Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games athletes, including Caitlin McClatchey, Robbie Renwick, Craig Benson, Ross Murdoch, Liam Tancock, Lizzie Simmonds, Georgia Davies and Roberto Pavoni.

Scottish Swimming will be streaming all the action live online throughout the course of the three-day event over the world’s largest video sharing platform, YouTube. The stream will be available live and as playback after the sessions at the governing body’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/scottishswimming free of charge, as well as on the Scottish Swimming’s website at www.scottishswimming.com/live.

Speaking ahead of the Championships Forbes Dunlop, Scottish Swimming’s Chief Executive Officer, said,

“These Championships are widely recognised as the premier short course event in the UK, which is why it attracts such a large, quality field.

After success at World, European, National and local events, our swimmers are now concentrating their efforts on preparing for the 2014 Commonwealth Games selection event in April. The
Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships event is the first opportunity of the new swimming season to measure their training progress and we look forward to some fantastic racing on show.“

Kevin Roxburgh, Managing Director of Scottish Gas, is excited about the partnership Scottish Gas and Scottish Swimming have formed for National Events and commented,

“Scottish Gas is proud of the partnership we have forged with Scottish Swimming, supporting swimmers of all levels from beginners to elite athletes. As a business we are passionate about supporting our people and our customers to invest in their wellbeing. Swimming is a great way to keep fit, relieve stress and have fun with your family. That is why it is wonderful to see so many bright young Scottish talents blazing a trail towards the Commonwealth Games and showing that an active childhood can lead to great achievements.”
